Packing Tips – From Someone Who Lives Out of a Suitcase

How do you pack so light?!

Truth is — I’ve learned to pack smart, not heavy. It’s all about being intentional with what you bring, and honestly… less really is more, even on longer trips, and yes I thinks its perfectly fine to wear one outfit more than once.

👗 Think in Outfits, Not Pieces

Don’t just throw random tops and pants into your bag. Instead, think about actual outfits you’ll wear — morning, day, and night. How many days/nights are you gone? How many dinners or activities will you dress up for? Are you spending most of your time by the beach/pool sipping Pina Colada or planning hikes? ( I like both)

I usually lay out my outfits in advance, mixing and matching where I can — and always add one backup in case something unexpected comes up, (or I just change my mind..)

🧳 Packing Cubes = Game Changer

If you haven’t used packing cubes yet — Amazon has tons of options, and they keep your bag so organized. I use one for clothes, one for underwear/swimwear, and one for gym/sportswear. Easy to unpack and your life just feels way more organised.

💧 Mini Tubes for Liquids

You don’t need your full-size shampoo and conditioner. I always use small refillable tubes for my liquids — you can grab them cheap on Amazon aswell or if you’re in Germany, Rossmann always has great and affordable ones! Saves space and avoids messy leaks.

👟 Don’t Overpack Shoes

Shoes take up space fast. I usually bring one comfy pair for travel/walking, one dressy, and maybe sandals if it’s a beach trip. That’s it! Be realistic about what you’ll actually wear.

🏃‍♀️ Don’t Forget Activewear (If That’s Your Thing)

If you plan to hike, hit the gym, or do yoga on the beach, throw in a set or two of activewear. But if your idea of activity is sipping cocktails by the pool — no judgment heh, pack accordingly.

I know this might come easy to me — I travel a lot, and love packing light (sometimes too light…). But if you focus on outfits, plan based on your activities, and keep things simple, you’ll avoid overpacking and feel more organized.

Trust me, you’ll thank yourself when you’re not dragging a giant suitcase through cobblestone streets or sweating it out at baggage claim.

Happy packing & safe travels 💛
